The regular jack is intended only for short-term raising of the car when replacing a wheel; before performance of any works under the car it is necessary to establish it on special props.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

Park the car on the flat horizontal platform, whenever possible with a hard coating. Cock the parking brake and install the AT selector lever in situation "P" (on models with AT) or turn on the first or reverse gear (on models with RKPP). Transportation on a tow truck platform

It is the most reasonable to transport the emergency car on the tow truck. Such transportation can be made:

• By method of full loading of the faulty car on a tow truck platform;
• By method of partial loading (one axis on the suspended shelf of the tow truck, and another or on the special cart, or on the earth).

Preparation for towage

Removable eyes for fastening of a towing cable are rolled in the openings located under caps on the right side of each bumper. For a vvorachivaniye of eyes it is convenient to use a key for wheel nuts.

Before towage on the emergency car it is necessary to include ignition, to establish transmission in neutral situation and to release the parking brake.

It is the most reasonable to make towage on a rigid hitch. At towage on a flexible hitch use the elastic cable which is only specially intended for this purpose.

Before a start of motion drivers of both vehicles (towing and towed) should coordinate among themselves a route.

Towage for the purpose of start of the engine

Previously try to start the engine from the auxiliary battery (see below). Start of the engine of models with AT by method of towage or pushing is not possible, and on models with RKPP at the same time it is possible to damage the catalytic converter – the towage distance for the purpose of start of the engine should not exceed 50 m. Include the 2nd or 3rd transfer, squeeze out a pedal of coupling and, holding it, include ignition. When both cars move, slowly include coupling (release a pedal). As soon as the engine is started, squeeze out a pedal of coupling and switch off transfer not to face the towing car.

Towage of the emergency car

Towage of the car without oil in transmission, and also at malfunction of AT is not admissible without separation of driving wheels from the earth.

The driver of the towing car has to try to move as much as possible evenly, smoothly releasing coupling at gear shifting and, especially, at start-off from the place.

At control of the towed vehicle you watch that during the movement the cable constantly remained tense, try not to allow sharp breakthroughs and arrivals on a proslablenny cable.

Remember that at the switched-off engine efficiency of braking of the car considerably decreases because the vacuum amplifier of brakes ceases to function. At the same time it is necessary to squeeze out a pedal of a working brake with much big, than usually, effort; when performing maneuvering the bigger effort should be put also to a steering wheel since the amplifier of steering will also not function.

The movement has to be carried out along the shortest route. The faulty car with AT is allowed to tow with a speed no more than 70 km/h and on distance no more than 150 km. Observe traffic regulations, avoid sharp braking, accelerations and excess maneuvering. Remember that at towage of the car on the region of the dirt road there is always a danger of demolition on a roadside.

Before towage of the faulty car with AT check the level of transmission liquid (see the Head Nastroyki and routine maintenance of the car), – at the insufficient ATF level, it is necessary to modify it, or to tow the car only with the driving wheels which are torn off from the earth.
