7.1.8. Replacement of sensors of a control system of the engine
- The procedure of replacement of sensors consists in separation of the socket and a reversing or removal of the sensor.
- Sensors of temperature and pressure of motive oil are located on a socle of an oil filter.
- Temperature sensor in a compartment is installed to the operating electronics directly in a compartment. For ensuring access to the sensor uncover a compartment. Separate the socket, unclench clamps and take the sensor.
Sensor of level of motive oil
- Switch off ignition and lower motive oil.
- Separate the socket of the sensor located on an engine case.
- Give fixture and take out the sensor. At installation use new laying.

- Raise the MAF sensor a little with the air cleaner case that it was possible to weaken a collar (1) of fastening of a hose. Remove the air cleaner case together with an air flowmeter.
- Wring out spring clamps at the left and on the right and remove the thermofilter (1). Turn out bolts (2).
At installation check a condition of a sealing ring of the MAF sensor and if necessary to replace a sealing ring. |
M52 engine
- Weaken a collar (1), wring out brackets (2), separate the socket (3) and remove the MAF sensor.
- At installation check a condition of sealing laying between the MAF sensor and the top part of the air cleaner and if necessary replace it.
M52TU engine
- Separate the socket (1) of the MAF sensor, disconnect a vacuum hose (2) from the soaking-up hose. Weaken a collar (3) fastenings of a hose.
- Unclench clips on the case of the air cleaner and disconnect the soaking-up hose with the MAF sensor.
- At installation check a condition of sealing laying between the MAF sensor and the top part of the air cleaner and if necessary replace it. Installation of the MAF sensor with the damaged lattice is not allowed.
M57 engine
- Remove the top cover of the engine and a casing of the fan of the cooling system of the engine.
- Turn out bolts and disconnect the soaking-up sleeve in the direction of an arrow.
- Separate the socket (2) of the MAF sensor, turn out bolts (1) and remove the sensor.
M60, M62, M73 engines
- Separate the socket (1) of the MAF sensor, weaken a collar (2) and disconnect the soaking-up hose from the MAF sensor.
- Open clips (1) and disconnect the MAF sensor from the top section of the air cleaner.
- At installation check a condition of sealing laying between the MAF sensor and the top part of the air cleaner and if necessary replace it.
Pressurization pressure sensor
- On the M57 engine the sensor of pressure of pressurization is installed behind on the inlet pipeline, – separate the socket (1) turn out a bolt (2) and remove the sensor (3).
- On the M67 engine remove the top cover of the engine, separate the pressurization pressure sensor socket, turn out a bolt (to the left of the sensor) and remove the sensor.
- At installation check and if necessary replace a sealing ring of the sensor of pressure of pressurization.
Sensor of provision of a bent shaft (CKP)
M51 engine
- The CKP sensor is installed under a starter.
- Take aside a radiator branch pipe on an entrance to the engine to see a tag (1) on GRM cover. Turn a bent shaft clockwise of an arrow so that the tag on a damper (2) tortional fluctuations coincided with a tag (1) on GRM cover. Separate the CKP sensor socket, having pressed the fixing socket bracket.
- Turn out a bolt, remove the CKP sensor together with the holder and disconnect the sensor from the holder.
- Install adaptation No. 13 6 040 on the holder, install the holder on the block of cylinders and shift against the stop forward. Thus the necessary interval (A) between the aligning pin on a flywheel and the CKP sensor is established. Fix the holder.
- Now, when adaptation settles down near the aligning pin (1) of a basic signal of a flywheel, remove adaptation from the holder.
The holder on the block of cylinders do not turn off any more. |
- Install the new CKP sensor in the holder and join the electrical wiring socket.
M52 engine
- The CKP sensor is installed under a starter, – remove the air cleaner case, turn out a bolt and remove the sensor.
- Separate the socket (2) electrical wirings under the inlet pipeline.
M57, M60, M62, M73 engines
- On the M60 engine remove the top cover of the engine.
- Separate the CKP sensor electrical wiring socket.
- Turn out a bolt and remove the CKP sensor.
- On M62 and M73 engines when replacing the transmission, a flywheel or the CKP sensor pay attention that if between the sensor and a case of the transmission one or several adjusting washers are established, it is necessary to measure distance between the sensor and teeths of a rotor. For this purpose turn a bent shaft for the central bolt clockwise forward so that through an opening of the removed CKP sensor it was possible to see completely one tooth of a rotor precisely on the center of an opening. Measure distance from a sensor nest flange to tooth of a rotor and subtract distance from the interfaced surface of the sensor to its end face from the received result. The received size is distance a gap between the sensor and a rotor and has to make 0.55 ± 0.2 mm. If necessary adjust a gap by means of the washers established under the sensor.
M67 engine
- Remove back section of protection of a case, disconnect a negative wire from the rechargeable battery.
- Turn out bolts (1) and take away a positive wire (2) of the rechargeable battery aside.
- Separate the socket (1), turn out a bolt (2) and remove the CKP (3) sensor.

Do not mix an electrical wiring of sensors of a detonation at connection of its sockets since it can lead to damage of the engine. |
- Remove the inlet pipeline.
- On the M52 engine separate the socket (1).
- Turn out bolts and remove detonation sensors.
