6.4.5. Replacement of mufflers

Petrol models

PERFORMANCE ORDER

Measure length (A) of the end of a pipe on the new additional muffler. Transfer the received value to the additional muffler which is subject to replacement and cut off in this place an exhaust pipe by means of a truborez. On models with M60, M62 and M73 engines remove additional (behind the basic) the muffler (see the Section Removal and installation of system of release of OG) and install on the new muffler the rubber-metal hinge for a suspension bracket it on a beam of the back bridge. On models with the M52 engine remove additional (behind the basic) the muffler (see the Section Removal and installation of system of release of OG). Put on the new additional muffler the connecting coupling so that the cut of a pipe of the muffler was in the middle of the coupling. Connect the muffler to final system by means of the coupling.

Diesel models

PERFORMANCE ORDER

Measure length (B) of the ends of pipes on the new intermediate muffler. Transfer the received value to the intermediate muffler which is subject to replacement and cut off in this place exhaust pipes by means of a truborez. Cut both pipes between the catalytic converter and the intermediate muffler the detachable machine on a welded seam and smooth out the place of a cut. With Soshlifuyte the remains of a welded seam on the intermediate muffler, remove the remains of pipes from pipes of the catalytic converter. If the remains of pipes do not manage to be removed from catalyst pipes, cut off at the corresponding length of a pipe of the new intermediate muffler. Openings on the new catalytic converter are closed by a self-adhesive film, – completely remove it. Connect the new intermediate muffler to the catalytic converter by means of connecting couplings. Nuts of collars have to be turned down. Connect both additional mufflers.
