4.5.5. Removal and installation of covers of a chain of GRM

Top covers of a chain and asterisk of camshafts

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER

Uncover heads of cylinders (see the Section M62 Engine). Remove the cooling system fan drive coupling with a krylchatka and a casing of the fan. On the block of cylinders No. No. 1-6 take the locking valve. Remove cases of both distributors of ignition (see the Head of the Power supply system and production of the fulfilled gases). If necessary remove the CMP sensor. Turn out a bolt of fastening of a guide of an oil pan. Uncover an oil-filling branch pipe and turn out a bolt. Turn out bolts of fastening and remove the top forward cover of a chain of GRM. 1 — the Holder of a pipe of supply of additional air Remove a camshaft drive chain guide. Turn a bent shaft for the central bolt clockwise so that the piston of the first cylinder was in VMT of the end of a step of compression. Selection (1) on a flange of the camshaft has to be in this situation on one axis with a bolt of fastening of the fuel distributive highway (2). VMT installation Take out a dustproof cover from an opening for fixing of a bent shaft and record a shaft by means of adaptation No. 11 2 300 or a suitable core. Fix both camshafts by means of adaptation No. 11 3 190. Cranked and camshafts have to remain in the fixed situation until the end of work. Wring out a protective cap of a natyazhitel by means of the screw-driver, weaken the lock-nut (2) located a cap, turn an adjusting bolt (1) on several turns. Carefully give the cap-type nut (3). The nut (3) is sprung. Turn out bolts of fastening of the left and right asterisks then record a chain that it did not slide off. Turn out a bolt (1) of fastening of a level of an uspokoitel of a chain. Extend a level of an uspokoitel from the lower loop of fastening by the movement up. Turn out bolts (1) and remove the top back cover of a chain of GRM. Right bolts of fastening of a back top cover of a chain of GRM Left bolts of fastening of a back top cover of a chain of GRM

Installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER

Clear the interfaced surfaces of dirt and lubricant. Make sure of integrity and correctness of installation of the aligning plugs. Install new laying (1) on both rows of cylinders. On laying (1 around an opening for a chain apply Hylomar SQ 32 M sealant). Establish a back cover and tighten all bolts of its fastening by hand. Tighten with the required effort at first bolts of fastening of a back cover to the lower cover, and then to heads of cylinders. Before installation of an asterisk of the camshaft of a number of cylinders No. No. 7-12 do not forget to establish on a ledge on a shaft a CMP sensor rotor. Install asterisks on camshafts, having aligned longitudinal openings to the center; tighten bolts of fastening of asterisks by hand. Establish a plunger of a natyazhitel of a chain so that the directing ledge (1) entered a level of a natyazhitel. Insert a spring and tighten a carving stopper (2). Adjust a chain tension. For this purpose press and take away a level of a natyazhitel in the direction of a driving chain and measure A distance. Wring out a level of a natyazhitel against the stop, measure distance of B and subtract from it A distance. By means of the adjusting screw establish a preset value (6 + 0.5 mm.) also tighten a lock-nut. Establish a new protective cap of a natyazhitel. Tighten bolts of fastening of asterisks of camshafts with the required effort: at first on the party of cylinders No. No. 7-12, then - on the party of cylinders No. No. 1-6. Establish a camshaft drive chain guide. Insert a level of an uspokoitel of a chain from above and record it in a fastening plate. Tighten a bolt of fastening of an uspokoitel. At the established GRM cover the loop of fastening is not visible. Clear the interfaced chain cover surfaces of dirt and oil. Check the aligning cover plugs for damages and correctness of installation. Apply Hylomar SQ 32 M sealant on surfaces of a joint of the top and lower covers. Establish new sealing laying so that the strip of a sealant was turned outside. Establish the top forward cover of GRM. Tighten by hand a bolt in an oil-filling branch pipe and a bolt of fastening of a guide of an oil pan. Tighten bolts of fastening of the top forward cover of a chain of GRM. Install the other being removed components in the sequence, the return sequence of their dismantle.

Lower forward cover

PERFORMANCE ORDER

Empty the engine cooling system (see the Head Nastroyki and routine maintenance of the car). Remove the top covers of a chain of GRM and the top section of the pallet of a case (see the Section Removal and installation of the top section of the pallet of a case and the oil pump). Weaken a collar and disconnect a hose. Turn out bolts and remove a bracket, take a hose aside. Remove a damper of tortional fluctuations. Turn out bolts of fastening of the lower forward cover of a chain of GRM. Record a chain of GRM and its level. Clear the condensed engine case surfaces, check correctness of an arrangement of the aligning plugs. Establish new sealing laying. Apply a layer of Hylomar SQ 32 M sealant on surfaces of a joint of laying of a cover of a chain of GRM. Replace a forward epiploon of a bent shaft (see the Section Replacement of Epiploons of a Bent Shaft and Consolidations of Distributors of Ignition). Connect the being removed hoses.

Lower back cover

PERFORMANCE ORDER

Remove the lower forward cover of a chain of GRM. Turn out bolts of fastening of the water pump and remove it. Take out a spring lock ring, remove a level of a natyazhitel and a chain of GRM. Take out a persistent bolt (1) of a level of a natyazhitel. If necessary remove a fixing corner (2) levels of an uspokoitel of a chain. Turn out fastening bolts. Remove the lower back cover of GRM. Installation is made upside-down. Use new laying of a cover of a chain of GRM; apply Hylomar SQ 32 M sealant on surfaces of a joint. Replace laying of the water pump.
